About JEPhoto
Welcome to my online photo gallery!
I have been a photography enthusiast since 1977, when I purchased my first camera – a Minolta SRT 101. Over the years I’ve enjoyed capturing photos of people, places and things. I embrace the art of seeing and often find photographic opportunity that I would have otherwise missed.
In the early 1990s, after having lost my Minolta gear in a burglary, I decided to take photography more seriously. I invested in the Canon EOS system, starting with the A2E and a selection of EF lenses. I was fortunate to have made the acquaintance of some talented local photographers, and my skills steadily grew as I learned from them.
Having taken interest in nature photography and being disillusioned with the online photo forums at the time, in April of 2000 I launched a new online site dedicated to the art and technique of nature photography – Nature Photographers Network - at www.naturephotographers.net. I sold the rights to NPN in 2017 and it remains an excellent resource for nature photographers to this day at https://www.naturephotographers.network/.
In 2004 I made the transition to digital photography with a Canon EOS 10D, and then later an EOS 50D. Now that I’m retired, I’ve made the transition to the EOS R6II mirrorless camera and use the latest versions of Adobe Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. I never cease to be amazed at what can be done with modern digital cameras and processing software! It’s been a long and rewarding journey since those early days with film and the Minolta, and I look forward to enjoying this pastime for many more years to come.
Thanks for stopping by!
Sincerely,Jim
